Throws a pattern, not just a glow
The lantern body is cut ironwork, so once the LED comes on it projects the pattern outwards onto whatever is nearby — a lawn, a patio, a wall. Sitting on a table it puts a ring of pattern round itself; hung up, it casts it down and out.
Hang it or stand it
The handle is fixed to the body, so it hooks over a branch, a shepherd's crook or a bracket, and it stands flat on a table or a step. It is self-contained — there is no cable to hide and nowhere it has to be near a socket.
Charges itself all day
A polycrystalline panel in the lid charges the internal Ni-MH cell while the sun is up. The lantern switches itself on at dusk and off at dawn, with no timer to set.
Specification
- Iron body with cut pattern, plastic cover
- Polycrystalline solar panel, 2V 80mA
- Battery: 1 × AA 1.2V 400mAh Ni-MH (rechargeable)
- 1 warm white LED, automatic dusk to dawn
- ON/OFF button on the solar panel
- Fixed carry handle for hanging
Worth knowing
Press the button on the solar panel once to switch it on. From then on it charges by day and lights up at night on its own.
The projection reads best on a flat pale surface and within about a metre of the lantern; further out it fades. Put it where it gets unshaded daylight, or the run time drops sharply.

Have questions?
Yes. Every light is made to stay outside all year — rain, wind or sun. The exact rating for this light is in the details above.
Anywhere the panel gets sun during the day: your path, driveway, fence, deck, porch or veggie patch. Once it's charged, it turns on by itself at night.
Yes. They still charge when it's overcast, just a little less, so they may stay on for fewer hours that night. One sunny day tops them right back up.
